For sure Dave. The paint on the walls have several coats. The walls however will not have any paint removed.I will just paint over it so that's no danger.

This is an led light fixture I ordered for my friends tank.I will also be getting 4 to 5 of these units in the future. The fixture is 4 feet long and uses 3 watt led with 45 degree optics. Its a 165 watt fixture with a mix of 50:50 led 10 k white and blue (forget the mn for blue led) .I chose 45 degree optics to get better penetration.I am getting 320 par at the bottom of my tank.Keep in min there is only 11 inches of water in it right now.I did test the light over the middle of my tank.It is completely covered by 3/4 inch acrylic.I am getting the same par readings even on the open side of my tank. The readings are pretty much the same.I found this to be interesting.

Good to see if you are alive. It has been one month since any postings on your thread.... I hope it is due to over work!!!!

Looks like a nice LED unit but what are the details???? If you have seen Luke's LED units he has derated the power to achieve extra life. Is the 3 watt the max or has it been derated. If not what is the life? Who makes the LEDs????

This is the company http://topline-led.en.alibaba.com/

They use 3 watt led but I forget what wattage they are running at.The fixture is 4 feet long and 5 inches wide.It is 165 watts total. You can see the par readings are high but its only 11 inches of water.I took readings in the middle of the tank( and the open top) under the acrylic top.So 3/4 inch acrylic doesn't seem to have much affect on par.I am using 45 degree optics.I have my old units and these are much better built. This unit kicks the shit out of my old ones.Very solid and pretty quiet. It has a seperate ballast for the power supply. The unit has 4 fans on it.They are pretty quiet.I bought this unit for my friends tank but I think it will fry his corals.I think its way to powerful.

BTW with an extra 12-14 inches of water are sure to have the PAR readings to go down a lot !!!! What is the point of doing a "Test" when they are totally bogus????? Why not fill the tank and do a real test??

You can contact them if you like and ask to speak with Daniel.I know they build the units they do not contract out the work or buy them from another manufacturer.I forget who makes the led themselves.I would think the par would drop to half when the tank is full.I will run the test when I fill the tank. The reason why I don't fill it is because I have yet to finish my sump room.I am still low on cash and I have not had the time to do it.Once I get that done then I will test the par again.I still think it will be pretty high for a 165 watt fixture. If I can get 150 to 200 par at the bottom of the tank its pretty darn good but I will have to wait and see.

Good to see you back mate. It's going to be good to see some par numbers when you get your tank filled.

Well this light belongs to my friend.I was going to get the 300 watt 5 foot version but I think its better to have the 4 foot and place them on the tank the way I placed this unit. They come with legs or I can hang them.I am thinking of using a bar to hang each unit so I can raise them off of the tank.If I make the bar adjustable I can raise it high enough to work on the tank and the lights won't be in my way.I also thought of using adjustable legs (max 5 inches high) so I can play with the height until I get what I want.I can also place a rail on top of my tank (both sides) and place small wheels on the legs. This would allow me to move the lights out of my way when working on the tank.I would make the rails the same thickness as the front panel this way it has no affect on the light spread. It would be easy to do.

Before you buy you need to look at how much they drive the units. Luke's units underdrive the LED which I am sure increases LED life.

Dave he had told me the wattage but I forget. The 3 watt led are not driven at 3 watts. They are driven at much less. They should last me 5 to 7 years. The unit isn't expensive at all.I paid more for my old T5 MH setup. The bulb replacement alone is saving me money. The fixture cost less than a good T5 fixture. It will light up the entire 4 feet of the tank but I don't know how wide a spread it will do.I think I will have to place it a few inches off of the tank in order to get a decent spread.I will have to see.I am not playing around with it since its not mine.Lukes fixture is the same as my old one.The problem with that unit is it rusts. My fixtures have some rust on them but they still work fine.I am not going to use them because I want to use all of the same fixtures on my tank.I don't want to mix and match.I can use them on a frag tank or as a back up in case one of my fixtures break down.I will slowly try to save up some money to buy them but I don't know how long that will take.My job doesn't pay as well as plumbing but at least I am guarantied 40 hrs a week.My back is still soar and has not fully healed after 2 months. In fact I think it will never heal.I will always have a soar back and its a fucken pisser.
