All the Deltec stirrers are the same design, just a difference in volume. Great design, not much to go wrong. | i partly disagree. my stirrer motor just blown recently after 1-2 year usage. then i quickly do a search on the net and it seems that is a "known" problem for the motor overheat.
Luckily Deltec have excellent CS and it was so easy to deal with them.
i though your old one is the UK model which will not work in US voltage ? |
You're not supposed to let your wife ride it you know!
The way in which the Deltec works is superior, in that it is a constant slow stir, rather than a fucking shit-storm.

| I sold the stirrer with the tank in England as I already had another waiting over here that I bought for the original setup. I hope that I don't have any motor issues but just like you mentioned, Deltec has great customer service.

Based on J's comment you need to watch your fiancé’s actions or maybe keep what is going on as your little secret

| Do you reckon the cleaning head makes a big difference, considering the price?

| Nope. Big waste of money as the brushes still need to be cleaned regularly and I doubt that all that extra equipment in the neck doesn't impede performance somehow.

| Good to hear an honest answer in regards to them. I see people praising them on youtube, but never mention the cleaning of them. Thanks for clearing that up mate.

I think the new design on some of the other cleaning heads (with 1 wiper blade and a spray down feature) would probably work better.
So, yesterday's tank project involved preparing for wrasses at some point in the future. Found a nice thread involving 1/4 poly netting and basic aluminum screening frame and spline. Here is what I came up with. I had to get a little creative with the area where the returns but I think it looks pretty good. Good peace of mind as well as I know that fish can't jump now.

Nope. Home Depot carries the aluminum frame, plastic 90 connectors, spline in 100 different sizes, and splining tool. I purchased the netting off of a guy on Reef2Reef who bought a ton of it a while back. All in all it cost me about $75 but I have enough material to make a couple more if I need or want to.

Yeah most netting is 1/2" or larger, that's why I had to buy this stuff from this guy as its pretty hard to find small quantities of 1/4 netting. None of my current fish are close to that small and the only gaps in the framing are around the two return pipes.
Damn fish are crafty thought! Probably will still get through.
I half expect to find a fish stuck half way through the netting.
