Yea, one problem with it is that the directions are vague. Dip for a few minutes, WTF? Ive used it alot and have pretty much figured out that a good 5 minute dip seems to be a safe time, at least for the sps corals Ive used it on. I dont think it is really as much a medicine as it is another means of detaching/killing possible pests that may be on your corals. I do know for a fact that pods and flatworms die from the stuff so I like it.
Ive dipped acros up to 10 minutes and got a handle on the flatworm problem with new frags.
I think your medicines will be better for possible infections that may be inside the coral.

I don't think I'll ever use it again. I've seen that melafix can clean up pests, and this stuff smelt way to chemically strong. Though the advantage of that is it may have killed any possible pest. I used to have a gall crab in my system, but I think I might have got rid of it when my old tank crashed.
The plan is to feed the coral tonight and do the melafix/pimafix dip tomorrow. ATM the coral is shaded under my leather, and it's showing some signs of recovery. I know it will take time to get well again, probably a couple of months, but it's nerve racking now I have been adding a couple of drops of iodine to my system for the last couple of weeks, and will stay in this routine from now on. When I done the iodine dip, it didn't stress the coral, and I think this is part the reason. I saw on TV that the experts are now saying humans should be taking iodine in their regular diets now, so it's doing some good.

I dont know Chris, while an iodine dip is a good thing sometimes I wouldnt dose your tank with it unless you are testing for it somehow. It can be very toxic and if you dont know how much uptake you have you may end up overdoing it.
edit: I misread, I thought you were going to hit it with iodine again. I think Id still wait a couple days between dips but the meds will be a good thing. Oh yea, I wanted to tell you that while revive works great on lots of critters, monti eating nudis dont seem to be affected by it near as well. I think I killed those with a melafix dip.

I only add 1 drop per 100ltrs, so it's not doing all that much. I know I should test for it though. I'll have to get a kit and see how it goes. I'll have to research what the kit tests for though, as i've read that iodine converts to iodate when in seawater, so it may be a waste of time. Might have to save it for dips. I'll do the med's dip and see how that goes. I think that the iodine is good for cleaning it up, better than revive on a wounded coral (just my observation) so I'll hold off on it for a while. Hopefully won't need it.
Here's the coral as of last night, slowly coming back,

I feed it last night, but will again either tonight or tomorrow when I feed the rest of the corals.

I can't sit back and do nothing now. I've let it go a little and it's gotten a little worse, which is what we are seeing now. I'm going to do a dip tonight, and a water change to clean things up. I'm due to change brands of salt too, so maybe that will help. I like to mix up my brands a little to try not to get an imbalance in certain elements. If the problem persists, I'll go back to Seachem (using TM atm), but I'm keen to try D&D, as it's new to Oz.

Well it seems my damaged trachie is repsonding well to the treatments. I haven't done a dip this week, and I think I'll hold off, as there appears to be new growth. I've been feeding the coral every 2nd day, but will now step that out to 3 days, and increase the food amounts. This has worked out really well.
Here's a day time shot, so to have polyp extension like this during the day is a sure sign that it's doing well. I have the damaged side turned away from the light, but I'll try turning the coral around later for a better shot.

I thought I'd chuck in the other trachies as well,

This one is a little bleached, but it's coming back since I've reduced the lighting, and have been feeding it too,

My little hammer didn't appreciate as much light either, but it's still doing really good,

I thought I'd get one of my lobo as well. It was enjoying the extra light, so when I move it to a new tank, I'm thinking of trying it under a halide. This is the one that I accidently built my aquascape on all those years ago but it's recovery is what I hope for with my trachie as well. I've noticed as this coral ages, it's getting more colours in it's polyps. They were out a little today, which is strange, as they usually come out at night. They are going the same colour as my cati, with the purple tips.

| Cheers mate. I'm glad the trachie is pulling through, as they are the one's I really like. The hammer was given to me, Adrian had it originally. I lost my original purple hammer which was a real shame.

The hammers here are really nice. There are threads all the time selling them. As for things like my trachies, the shop couldn't sell them. They had them for $16ea, but since I got 3, they did them for $10ea. I was given my toadstool and colt coral, again they couldn't sell them. I think my cati was the most expensive at around $50. I try to buy stuff that I like, and not what's popular, as this way its not expensive. I'm trying for a few more LPS later, acans, chalice and maybe a scolly. I'll be a little more selective with these one's though. When I get a few SPS, I'll be going for very small frags for this reason too. I don't want colonies, as I want to get the frag used to my system, and then let it grow out.
I just went down to do some water tests to get ready for a water change, and notice some damage to my lobo's flesh. It's only small, but now I'm thinking there's a bloody gall crab in the system. Bloody hell. I'll dip the lobo later, and keep up the food. I hope to find the fucker in action, so that I can siphon it out. What a pain in the arse
