so build a brand and a business model that allows you to farm the work out to various parts of the country. That's what I could never understand about that stupid salt guy. Shipping costs hurt sales, so build a network of rock makers. You sell the product through your core business, and have it made around the country. Develop an accredation program wherein potential partners build rocks to spec and ship them to you for review. Once they are up to par,, you start sending them business.

Very good idea J.He can work with people who are in the same boat.They want to make live rock but can't make large enough quantities.By having more people doing this you can make more money and then build a larger facility.I would suggest you use pond sumps or small pools that are durable to be able to make and cure larger quantities of rock.I f you can find people in various states who are interested in doing this you can sell them a franchise.You can sell me rock no one has to know.You just have to have the product to sell. How much money can you make making your own live rock from scratch.The time it takes plus electricity and to store the materials and rock after wards.If you live near the ocean you can probably store the rock in saltwater and eventually turn it into live rock for free.Then sell it as live rock for two to three times the price.

but I'm not sure I'd collect from any of the beaches around Sydney though.
