Are you happier with the 400w over the 250w Steve?

Tanks looking bloody nice, I voted for yours to be TOTY on MASA, but it looks like Rod will shit it in again this year Laughing

Not a problem Adrian

Cheers Barry

Hey Chris

Yeah I am a lot happier with the 400W over the 250W everything just looks happier and the Radium bulb is out fucking standing.

Ha ha ha TOTY yeah well I guess I should have updated my tank journal but couldn't really be stuffed (though I do need a new RO unit)

I don't think Adrian will mind so I will post this up here as well.

Yeah they are serious numbers. When we were going to build our house, I was planning skylights to light my tank, may just have to build a shed instead Laughing

Those are CRAZY numbers! I wonder what they'd look like in winter.

I wonder if the same results could be acheived with solatubes? Be a lot cheaper and much better light than replacing bulbs annually.

Shocked Holy crap that is intense. I had no idea you were going to get numbers like that. Over in your build thread, I dont think you ever posted any pictures of the actual shed roof and how direct the sunlight is, would you mind posting a pict of the ceiling in there?. How many hours of the day does the sun directly hit the tank and out of curiousity, have you taken an average on overcast days?

There is a guy here that runs solar tubes, halides and T5's as supp's. In summer, I believe he can turn the halides off, but doesn't in winter. He's in SA somewhere, so the weather patterns would be a little different. But to even not need lighting at summer time would be nice. Only set back is the colours in the tank. I would love to build a decent skylight lined with the same material in the halide reflectors. Cleaning it would be a bitch, but...
